Returning to School Information

We would like to inform you about the changes and expectations for your child returning in September.  School has put in place changes that adhere to the social distancing guidelines - we want the children to feel safe, secure and happy and ensure that, you as parents, are confident that we have put as many measures in place as possible to protect your child.

Please note that the school timings are different to ensure the safety of all, and these are detailed below.

Starting Times and Drop Off Protocol

Children will need to dropped off at the designated entrance and exit gates around school promptly.  Parents/carers will not be allowed on the school premises and a member of staff will come and collect the children from the gate, checking that they have no symptoms of coronavirus.  If the children are reluctant to leave you, we will endeavour to support them, but unfortunately you will not be able to bring them into school yourselves.  If your child is too upset and cannot be coaxed into school with support from a member of staff, you may need to take them home, however, this will be unauthorised. To alleviate any anxiety, we suggest you talk to your child about the new routines in place.

To avoid contact between groups, children must be dropped off promptly at the designated times and gates, otherwise the gates will be locked and as children are not allowed to use the main entrance, they will have to go home on that day.  This will be an unauthorised absence due to the government guidelines regarding compulsory attendance.

Additional Information:

All children including Year 6 must be brought to school by ONE adult family member, parent or carer only. If there are any other siblings with you, you will be responsible for helping your child/ren to maintain social distancing requirements whilst waiting outside the school.

If you travel on public transport to get to and from school, you and your child will need to wear face masks on the bus and use hand sanitiser when you get off.  This will help to keep you protected and ensure that the spread of the virus is reduced.

No parent/carer/family member will be permitted to enter the school site without the pre-arranged permission of the headteacher.  Please phone the school office to arrange a meeting.

Unfortunately, for the safety of all, children will only be allowed to mix in year group bubbles which means that classes will need to enter and exit through different gates and at different times.  Breakfast club and after school clubs will not be available until we ensure that the return to school of all children is securely in place.  Parents will be required to fill in a survey for an expression of interest and not all children will be able to attend.  Places will be allocated according to a set criteria and in regard to year group bubbles.  We understand that this is inconvenient and we will aim to recommence the clubs as soon as safely possible.

There is a transition section in the Kid’s Zone that has a list of the new class teachers with videos and letters that they have put together to introduce themselves and hopefully will reduce some anxieties.  Please look at these with your child to support them in their transition to their new class.  https://www.theoaks.bham.sch.uk/transition/

School Uniform

Children are expected to wear school uniform on their return to school and they will need to have their own school PE kit with the logo on.  Please order these on your school money account at https://login.eduspot.co.uk/public/portal/parent/?app=schoolmoney&source=website&version=20190314 before Friday 17th July.

Children must wear a clean set of clothes each day to ensure that we minimise the risk of

cross contamination.

Equipment

Children should not bring any items into school, especially toys from home.  All equipment will be provided for the children and cleaned daily.

Please provide your child with a water bottle each day - this will need to be taken home daily and cleaned thoroughly.  Unfortunately, we cannot refill water bottles in school so please ensure the bottles are full each morning.

The only things children SHOULD bring into school are:

  • filled water bottles
  • PE kits
  • coats

Children SHOULD NOT bring:

  • school bags (school will provide an alternative for the first term)
  • rucksacks
  • toys
  • books
  • masks to wear in school
