Why is water wet?
This half term we are learning all about water. We have already had a look at the ways we use water in our lives and the water cycle. We will soon be learning about how to save water, being safe when playing by water, water animals and all about the seaside.
Eggs and Chicks
The Reception Children have really embraced our new topic, all about animals and life cycles. They have especially enjoyed watching our living eggs hatch in to beatiful baby chicks. We cant wait for them to get a little bigger so we can hold and name them.
Chocolate Factory
The Children had a great time at Cadbury World on Friday. They all loved the Cadbury ride, the playground and eating loads of Chocolate. What a lovely way to round up our topic 'Why Can't I have Chocolate for Breakfast?'
Happy Easter
Thank you to all the Parents and friends that came to our Easter Fun Workshop. We had a lovely time decorating eggs, making and eating biscuits and cakes, and showing off our Easter Bonnets.
Happy Red Nose Day
Thank you to all the people who donated to Red Nose Day. The children had a great time showing off thier funny faces.
World Book Day
For World Book Day we looked at the story 'The Day the Crayons Quit'. All the classes dressed up as different coloured crayons. Reception was Red and Purple. We made different art work using only Crayons and wrote letters as a Crayon. We were also lucky enough to have an author come in to read poetry with us.
Why Can't I have chocolate for breakfast?
Welcome back. This term we are starting the topic 'Why can't I have chocolate for breakfast?'- we will be looking at healthy eating and foods from around the world. So far we have enjoyed setting up a Breakfast Cafe role play. The children have all been given the opportunity to be servers in the cafe and help to run the cafe by taking orders and preparing the other children's breakfasts. We plan to try different breakfasts from around the world through out the term.
Did Dragons Exist?
Wecome back and Happy 2015. This term the children are learning all about Dragons. So far we have played with toy dragons, read dragon stories, made magical potions and learnt how to become a Brave Knight.
We were also very excited to meet a real life Bearded Dragon. Thank you to a couple of children who brought 'Hulk the Dragon' in to visit.
It's Christmas!!
The children had a wonderful time at our Christmas party and must have been very good this year, because we even had a visit from Santa. Thank you to all the parents who donated food for our party, the children loved it.
A Very Noisy Nativity
A big well done to all the children in Reception and Nursery for their fantastic Nativity.
Fun on the Farm
We have had a super day today visiting Hatton Country Farm petting animals and seeing Santa before he starts his busy time getting ready to deliver presents.
The children enjoyed cuddling guinea pigs, feeding sheep and goats, and looking at reptiles and insects. We also had plenty of time on the tractor grid and play zones before lunch and our visit to see Santa in his fantastic grotto. We were all so exhausted that some of us fell to sleep on the coach back home.
Winter is coming!
The children are enjoying the cold weather. Look at the HUGE pieces of ice we have found in Reception playground.
Celebration Time
A big welcome back to reception after half-term. We have kicked off our Autumn 2 term with a week of Bonfire activities. The children especially enjoyed our Fun Day on Wednesday when parents and guardians came in to help us make chocolate sparklers, hot dogs and baked potatoes. In the weeks to come we will be looking at other festivals such as Diwali, Hannukah, Eid and Christmas.
What an amazing first few weeks we have had in Reception. All the children have settled in really well and have made some lovely friends. Our hard work has started too, with the children learning how to write their name, count and write numbers to 10 and recognise some letter sounds.
