The Oaks Primary School

From Little Acorns Grow Mighty Oaks

Year 3

Hello and welcome to Year 3 2022/2023!

We have had a wonderful first week back at The Oaks. You have all shown how determined you are to get back to learning, fantastic creativity in all of our tasks and we have seen great friendships forming already. It is brilliant how quickly you have all adjusted to the school rules and are trying to keep each other safe.

We have got many exciting things planned for the year ahead and cannot wait to share them all with you! smiley

Staff working in Year 3 this year are:

Miss Venner - Class Teacher in 3V

Miss Saidler - Class Teacher in 3S

Mrs Moore - Teaching Assistant in Years 3 & 4

Miss Charles - Teaching Assistant in Years 3 & 4

Mrs Baggley - KS2 Lead Practitioner

There are a few bit of important information to share:

  • Bring a full water bottle from home each day - we are now able to refill these in school.
  • Reading books will be sent home on Fridays and must be brought back into school on Wednesday, along with your child's reading record. Please ensure that this is signed.
  • Homework will be set on Friday.  This will include Spellings, Handwriting and Maths. A copy of this will also be uploaded to the website.

PE days are on Thursdays and Fridays and this half term the children are doing Football and Hockey. They will need their PE kits on both of these days.

Year 3 will be going on a science trip to Birmingham Thinktank on Thursday 6th October. Please return the trip form to the class teachers.

All children have online logins for Timestable Rockstars, Letterjoin and Language Angels  in order for them to practice key skills at home. If you are having any problems accessing this, then please do let us know. This will help them build confidence with the times tables that they are learning, as well as helping them develop their known Key Instant Recall Facts.

The children also have a selection of KEY INSTANT RECALL FACTS that we would like them to learn this term. Please see the document below for these.

The children in Year 3 all now have a VIP values chart.  All children are trying really hard to ensure that they thinking about and applying our school values throughout the day and earning a colour stamp on their individual charts.

They are doing exceptionally well at learning all of these values and thinking about how they can show them!

They are: friendship, community, teamwork, determination, honesty, ambition, learning and creativity.

We have had a great first week in Year 3 and we are really looking forward to the rest of the year!

If you have any questions or concerns please e-mail directly to the Year group mailbox so that we can help you as quick as we can: parentsiny3@theoaks.bham.sch.uk

Many Thanks
