The Oaks Primary School

From Little Acorns Grow Mighty Oaks

Year 3

Hello and welcome to Year 3!

Welcome to the Year 3 page.

We have had a wonderful first week back at The Oaks. You have all shown how determined you are to get back to learning, fantastic creativity in all of our tasks and we have seen great friendships forming already. It is brilliant how quickly you have all adjusted to the school rules and are trying to keep each other safe.

We have got many exciting things planned for the year ahead and cannot wait to share them all with you! smiley

Staff working in Year 3 this year are:

Miss Venner - Class Teacher in 3V

Mrs Best - Class Teacher in 3B

Mrs Moore - Teaching Assistant Year 3 and 4

Miss Charles - Teaching Assistant Year 3 and 4

There are a few bit of important information to share:

  • Bring a full water bottle from home each day - at the moment we are unable to refill the bottles in school.
  • Reading books will be sent home on Fridays and must be brought back into school on Wednesday
  • Homework will be set on Friday.  This will include Spellings, Maths and English. A copy of this is attached below, this includes the spelling words for the following week.

PE days are on Mondays and Wednesdays and this term the children are doing Athletics and Hockey. They will need their PE kits on both of these days.

We would like you to complete reading at home using the Collins Ebooks App. If you are having any problems accessing this, then please do let us know. The children will be set a new book each week. For the majority of children, this will match the text that they are reading in school. This will help them build confidence with the books that they are reading, as well as helping them develop their vocabulary.

The children also have a selection of KEY INSTANT RECALL FACTS that we would like them to learn this term. Please see the document below for these.

The children in Year 3 all now have a VIP values chart.  All children are trying really hard to ensure that they thinking about and applying our school values throughout the day and earning a colour stamp on their individual charts.

They are doing exceptionally well at learning all of these values and thinking about how they can show them!

They are: friendship, community, teamwork, determination, honesty, ambition, learning and creativity.

We have had a great first week in Year 3 and we are really looking forward to the rest of the year!

If you have any questions or concerns please e-mail directly to the Year group mailbox so that we can help you as quick as we can: parentsiny3@theoaks.bham.sch.uk

Many Thanks
